Follow these simple steps to set up your iOS Shortcut automation for automatic audio playback when connecting to CarPlay.

1 Add the Shortcut

First, you need to add the pre-made shortcut to your device.

  1. Tap the link below to open the shortcut in the Shortcuts app:
  2. Add "Play CarPlay Audio" Shortcut
  3. Once opened, tap "Add Shortcut" (or "Set Up Shortcut" if prompted) to add it to your library.

2 Create the CarPlay Automation

Next, set up an automation that runs this shortcut every time you connect to CarPlay.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Go to the "Automation" tab at the bottom.
  3. Tap "New Automation" or the "+" icon in the top right, then select "Create Personal Automation."
  4. Scroll down and select "CarPlay."
  5. Ensure "Is Connected" is selected, switch it to "Run Immediately", and disable "Notify When Run", then tap "Next."
  6. Search for "Monorail" and select the shortcut you previously downloaded.

You're all set! Now, whenever your iPhone connects to CarPlay, the Monorail sound will now play! :)
